Lê Thị Hồng Thơ joined our Vietnam Sales Team six years ago as a timid newcomer to the real estate technology sector. Today, she stands as a confident and accomplished professional. Her secret? A growth mindset, fuelled by learning opportunities, professional challenges, and a supportive work environment.

 

Embracing a New Path

Thơ’s career with us began unexpectedly. Despite her Hospitality and Restaurant Management background, a chance visit to the PropertyGuru office drew her to the energy of a sales career. “The people were very dynamic and creative, talking with clients fluently and confidently. As someone who initially lacked self-assurance, I wanted to learn and grow in this atmosphere.”

 

The Power of Continuous Learning

One of the key factors in Thơ’s success has been her commitment to continuous learning. “There are many opportunities here for me to learn and grow,” she says. “There are various training programmes to support staff, and a clear career progression path, which has been instrumental in helping me better serve our customers.”

 

Overcoming Challenges and Building Confidence

Thơ’s journey has not been without its challenges. She recalls her early days at the company, saying, “When I first joined PropertyGuru, I was very shy, but the training and the tools helped me to find my confidence.”

Her perseverance and willingness to embrace new experiences paid off in achievements that significantly boosted her drive and self-belief, “I secured a three-digit contract worth 500 million VND. Closing that contract was a breakthrough. I felt a strong desire to secure even larger deals, and began to believe in my capabilities more,” she explains. This newfound confidence propelled her to set even higher goals for herself and her career.

“Most recently, I was able to confidently train 60 of my clients. And I feel comfortable working with other departments, connecting with more colleagues and clients, and becoming closer to them,” Thơ asserts.

 

The Role of Company Culture

PropertyGuru Vietnam’s company culture has played a significant role in Thơ’s development. She describes the common threads that tie the various teams together: “Professionalism, youthfulness, dynamism, and a proactive attitude are key,” she explains. “Our work involves constantly adapting to the diverse needs of our customers, so a hunger for knowledge and a willingness to take on new challenges is crucial.”

 

Learning from Failure

In 2022, Thơ participated in a career development program where she shared her experiences and lessons learned from failures. “It helped me reflect on the challenges I had faced. I realised that those experiences had enriched subsequent interactions with clients. Seeing that was a significant milestone in my growth and maturity,” she reflects.

It’s a lesson from which everyone can learn. “We all experience failure. What matters is how each person grows from those failures and whether they can rise from them,” she says. This openness has not only helped her grow but has also inspired her colleagues and enhanced her personal brand within the company.

 

Advice for Aspiring Sales Professionals

For those starting their career in sales at PropertyGuru Vietnam, Thơ emphasises the importance of embracing challenges. “When you face a difficult situation, don’t shy away from it, confront it head-on,” she advises. “Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow, both personally and professionally.”

Thơ’s own journey serves as an inspiration. “This is a challenging job but also one that opens up countless opportunities for you.” She states. “I started as a shy girl from a small town, and now I am negotiating deals and training clients.
