Optimistic insights

The desire to purchase residential real estate is still very high among the Vietnamese, with a staggering 92% of property seekers surveyed expressing an intent to buy homes in the future, according to Batdongsan.com.vn’s most recent Consumer Sentiment Report. More than half of these respondents are also looking to buy a house in the next two years, with HCMC and Hanoi emerging as the two most popular places in which to buy, followed by provinces adjacent to these major cities.

These and other optimistic insights took centre stage at a media roundtable today launching the 2022 edition of the PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards. Now in its 17th year, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series, which includes the programme in Vietnam, continues to grow in terms of coverage and technology, said Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, at the roundtable event.

Other speakers in the line-up at the roundtable included Robert Vu, CEO of Batdongsan.com.vn; Thien Duong, managing director of Transform Architecture and chairperson of the independent judging panel of the Awards; and Chu Duy Hung, general director of Kohler Vietnam LLC.

Plethora of new categories

The 2022 edition of Vietnam’s most prestigious real estate awards programme gives outstanding developers and design practices an opportunity to compete in a plethora of new categories. They include Best Luxury Housing Development (Hanoi), Best Residential Development (Quy Nhon), Best Residential Development (Southern Vietnam Provinces), Best Residential Development (Northern Vietnam Provinces), Best Residential Development (Central Vietnam Provinces), Best Wellness Lifestyle Development, Best Completed Condo Development, Best Completed Housing Development, Best Connectivity Condo Development, Best Connectivity Housing Development, Best Coastal Residential Development, Best Waterfront Condo Development, Best Waterfront Housing Development, Best Branded Residential Development, Best Eco-Friendly Condo Development, Best Eco-Friendly Housing Development, Best Serviced Apartment Development, Best Eco-Friendly Commercial Development, Best Co-Working Space, Best Education Development, Best Mixed Use Architectural Design, and Best F&B Design Concept.

The independent panel of judges, which consist of leading experts in real estate consultancy, architecture and design, green building and sustainable development, rigorously select eligible entries to these categories.

Hang Dang, a member of the judging panel and managing director of CBRE Vietnam, said: “Although Covid-19 still posed challenges to the property market in 2021, Vietnam’s economy has been showing marked improvement. The performance of the Vietnamese market has been positive, with net absorption growing in Hanoi and HCMC, while asking rents in industrial parks, especially in southern Vietnam, have increased year-on-year. Primary condominium selling prices also continued to rise in Hanoi and HCMC. These positive shifts signal gathering tailwinds behind the Vietnamese property market’s climb up the recovery curve.”

The programme has maintained its reputation for being fair, transparent, and credible. The selection process in 2022 is supervised by the team of HLB, the global network of independent advisory and accounting firms, led by Do Manh Cuong, partner and deputy general director of AASC Ltd. – HLB Vietnam.

History of success

The latest edition of the PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards continues a history of success. Last year’s edition of the Awards marked the programme’s first hybrid gala celebration, gathering awardees in an exclusive setting and featuring a live screening of the virtual red carpet and awards presentation.

Around 71 winners across 56 categories were revealed in the hybrid gala celebration at the Park Hyatt Saigon in HCMC. Keppel Land clinched the top honour of Best Developer, plus three Special Recognition accolades and Best Mid End Condo Development (HCMC), a title it shared with Phu Long Real Estate Corporation for their Celesta Rise project.

One of the country’s most illustrious entrepreneurs also attended the innovative celebration last year. Le Van Kiem, founder and chairperson of KN Group, accepted the golden statuette for Vietnam Real Estate Personality of the Year, honouring his pioneering work with thriving golf communities.

The 8th PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards will be held as an in-person gala event in line with Ho Chi Minh City’s prevailing safety and health protocols. The awards presentation will be live-streamed to an international audience via AsiaPropertyAwards.com and partner digital platforms, reaching consumers and agents across Asia Pacific. Highlights of the 2021 presentations will be broadcast during the livestream.

Best of Asia

Main country winners of the 2022 PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards will be able to compete for Best of Asia honours at the 17th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final on 9 December in Bangkok, Thailand.

The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards virtual gala series, which began streaming in 2020 and continued in 2021, has garnered around 1 million views to date across multiple channels. All 2022 awards presentations are scheduled to be streamed live on the same night as the physical gala dinners in each country.

Established in 2005, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards continue to reward high-calibre work within the industry – encompassing property development, construction, architecture, interior design, and sustainable building practices. The series has expanded over the years to cover the region’s dynamic property markets, including Australia, the Chinese markets, Japan, India, and Sri Lanka.

Organised by Southeast Asia’s leading property technology company, PropertyGuru Group, the 8th PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards programme is supported by platinum sponsor Kohler; gold sponsors Häfele and Saint-Gobain Vietnam; local partner Oriental Media Vietnam; official portal partner Batdongsan.com.vn; official magazine PropertyGuru Property Report; official PR partner T&H Communications; and official supervisor HLB.
